For the fifth instalment of our Meet the Creators series, we’re heading to Norfolk to meet Jamie Harcourt, better known online as The Norfolk Countryman. A proud veteran, full-time security professional, and passionate outdoorsman, Jamie perfectly embodies the balance between discipline and countryside adventure. When he’s not on call or shooting campaigns with New Forest Clothing, you’ll likely find him exploring the quiet beauty of Norfolk’s countryside - a place he fondly describes as a “hidden gem.”

Jamie’s love for the outdoors runs deep, from early morning walks through rolling fields to days spent perfecting his aim on the clays. For him, shooting isn’t just a pastime - it’s a way to connect with nature, unwind, and appreciate the simple pleasure of being outside. His calm, grounded approach to life makes him a natural fit for Country Content’s creative projects, where his easygoing presence and genuine enthusiasm bring every shoot to life.

Q. What does a typical day in your life look like?

A. During the week, my days tend to follow a steady, yet disciplined routine. I stay busy balancing professional responsibilities and personal projects, and I like to keep things well-organised and productive. Every now and then, if my schedule allows, I’ll take myself off for a midweek clay shoot, which is a great way to break up the week and give me the chance to reset.

I enjoy getting out for long walks or exploring new places. It’s a nice balance between staying active and taking time to relax.

Q. What draws you to the country lifestyle?

A. I’ve always felt most at home outdoors, surrounded by nature. There’s something truly special about the British countryside, and its beauty changes with every season.

Over the past few years, shooting has really deepened that connection for me. Whether it’s a day on the Clays or out shooting Game, being out in the countryside has become more than just a hobby — it’s something I genuinely look forward to. I feel incredibly lucky to live somewhere where the landscape offers so much variety and peace, and I can’t imagine being without it.

Q. What’s your favourite countryside activity?

A. Shooting is by far my favourite countryside activity, particularly Clay Shooting, although I do enjoy the occasional Game day too.

There’s something really special about being outdoors, surrounded by the peace and beauty of the countryside, while focusing on improving my skills. It’s both relaxing and rewarding — a great way to unwind, challenge myself, and appreciate the environment around me.

Q. Are there any “must-have” pieces you always wear on a day-to-day?  What’s one piece of clothing you couldn’t live without?

A. For me, a good pair of durable boots is an absolute must-have. Whether it’s for everyday wear or long walks in the countryside, having the right footwear makes all the difference. But the one piece of clothing I really couldn’t be without is my New Forest Nightjar Smock. It’s become a bit of a go-to for me - lightweight, comfortable, and tough enough to handle whatever the British weather decides to throw at me. Out in the countryside, you quickly learn that being prepared for all seasons is essential, and my Nightjar Smock never lets me down.

Q. How did you first come to work with Country Content?

A. I first came across Country Content through an Instagram post where they were looking for applicants for a photoshoot. I applied and was thrilled to be invited by the lovely Chloe from Country Content to join her, on one of her content days. Since then, I’ve worked with some incredible brands and have been lucky enough to work alongside some of the most amazing people and have made many new friends along the way.

The days with Country Content are always inspiring, and I love being part of their creative projects.

Q. What has been your favourite part of the shoot day experience with Country Content?

A. My favourite part has to be meeting like-minded people who have made me feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. The days are always full of laughter and good energy, which makes the whole experience so enjoyable. Chloe is incredibly welcoming, and being part of such a friendly, fun environment is what I love most about the shoot days.

Q. What’s been your funniest or most unexpected moment on a shoot day?

A. Honestly, there are too many to choose from! But one that really sticks out is when I suggested we throw leaves in the air to recreate a falling autumn scene — only for Martyn to appear out of the bushes with a leaf blower, covering everyone in leaves! It was absolutely hilarious and perfectly captures the fun, lighthearted atmosphere of the shoot days.

Q. Which New Forest Clothing pieces have been your favourites to style or shoot?

A. For me, it’s definitely the tweeds. There’s something about slipping into a well-made tweed jacket or suit that just feels right — comfortable, timeless, and effortlessly classic. I love how it blends so beautifully with the British countryside, whether you’re out walking or on a shoot. Every time I wear tweed, it just feels like I’m part of the landscape, and that’s something I really enjoy capturing when styling or shooting.

Q. And which New Forest Clothing piece has been your favourite all round?

A. I’d have to say the Nightjar Smock! It’s incredibly well made, really comfortable to wear, and goes with almost everything. Whether I’m out in the countryside or on a shoot, it’s the piece I always reach for because it’s so versatile and reliable.

Quick Fire

Tea or Coffee to fuel the day - A good cup of Yorkshire Tea — there’s nothing like starting the day with it in hand.

Countryside Companion? Dogs or Horses - Dogs, every time! I love their energy and company out in the fresh air.

Summer Sunsets or Frosty Mornings - Frosty mornings — all wrapped up warm, breathing in the crisp air, and of course with a cup of Yorkshire Tea.

Muddy wellies or polished leather boots? - Muddy wellies, hands down! The muddier they are, the better the day you’ve had, haha.
