The size guide recommended the large, but it was too big for me. I returned it hassle free and received a medium size. Very happy with the coat, though the lining could have been a bit thicker and softer.

I purchases a Woodsman II Wax Jacket from New Forest Clothing and I am very pleased with the quality, fit, color, price, and extremely fast delivery. I would purchase from New Forest again without hesitation.

Just for reference, I am 169cm and with a 94cm chest size. I ordered a size S and it fits perfectly. It can easily fit a wool jumper under it or just a t-**** and it looks great either way. I especially like the length, as it reaches mid thigh, which is perfect for rainy weather.

I only have 2 small issues which aren't deal breakers. The hood is a little big and can obstruct my vision a little, but if I wear a hat with the hood up it's perfect. The other is the sleeves are quite long for me, but I just rolled them over, which works great because the inside cuffs are corduroy and they look great rolled up, but they can get wet in the rain.

Overall, extremely happy for a quality jacket without paying hundreds of Euros.

If in doubt, pick a larger size, as this (‘Large ‘) was slightly smaller than expected.
The wax smell is rather strong, too, but otherwise it is a well made coat

The coat is well made & finished and unlike many waxed jackets doesn’t feel too heavy. I’ve yet to test it in a winter downpour but so far in light rain it has been totally waterproof. Elasticated and poppered inner cuffs would make a great addition to this jacket to keep in warmth.

Bought as a present for my son and he is delighted with , couldn't be more pleased.

Brought for my son for beating. He’s done 1 full season and still looks like new . Keeps wind and rain out perfectly

Great fit I ordered a size larger, and fit is perfect. It is less greasy than my previous wax coats. The lining thinner than I imagined and no inner cuffs on sleeves. To be fair, it's as described, and I still give it 5 stars. Very well made, outer material feels very good quality and heavy gauge. The 2 zipped inside pockets are a bonus and nice to have. Overall highly recommended.

Great jacket. I didn’t pay close attention to the sizing guide, where it was very well pointed out that one needs slightly larger size for more relaxed fit. So when I returned the size L and got XL it was a fantastic fit exactly to my liking.

The ordering process was easy, delivery swift. In terms of the Woodsman jacket I would say:



The chest fit was true to size, the jackets length spot on but the sleeves 1-2 inches too short. They come to my watch line and offer little protection from nettles and brambles



The manufactured quality is strong, nicely stitched with tartan lining inside the pockets. Value, too is strong. The biggest danger with well made coats is that they often use a cheap, nasty zip. The zip here is of acceptable quality although it takes me a few minutes to fasten it. Would be good to see it offered with a single, beefier, zip.



There is one inside zip pocket, not two as advertised. I’ll forgive this as it's almost impossible to find this type of product with secure pockets suitable for your keys etc



With the Woodsman I was offered any colour I liked as long as it was olive green. Thing is it isn't olive green at all. Have asked 4 people to describe the colour; all said brown. I have no issue with this but it won't look like it does on the NF website



If, like me, you're thinking of buying this type of jacket for the first time best to see it as a U.K. Spring/Summer/early Autumn product. These jackets use 19th century technology and won't keep you as warm nor as dry as a modern outdoor coat. However the performance you get is perfectly acceptable and modern outdoor coats either cost lots, lots more, will shred on the brambles or both.



Overall I'm satisfied with this product
