Country Clothing Icons - The Royal Family

Her Majesty The Queen acceded to the throne at 25 years old on 6 February 1952. This year the Queen becomes the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth. To mark this unprecedented anniversary, we take a look back at some of the iconic country fashion looks inspired by the Royal Family over the last 70 years.

Wax Jackets

It's no secret - the royal family love a Wax Jacket. Resisting the weather, thorns, scuffs and being repairable and re-waxable are excellent qualities for countryside walks and fieldsports. As a result the popularity of waxed cotton among the Royals has never dwindled.

The Queen has famously sported the same wax jacket for more than 25 years, refusing to part with it. A true fashion investment piece, the waxed jacket has a deep-rooted association with the British countryside. We believe everyone should own one of these iconic garments!
